How to screen record on an iPhone?
I’m assuming you have the latest version of iOS so that it will be easy to follow these steps. In case you have an earlier version, it shouldn’t be difficult to follow.
- Open the Control Center by swiping up from the bottom of the screen or by swiping down from the top right corner of the screen (if you’re using an iPhone X or later).
- Make sure that your iPhone is running iOS 11 or later. If it’s not, you’ll need to update your device before you can start screen recording.
- Press and hold the screen recording button, which looks like a circle with a dot in the middle. You’ll see a 3-second countdown before the recording starts.
- To stop the recording, tap the red bar at the top of the screen or the red status bar. The recording will be saved to your Photos app.
- Now tap, Stop as you can see in the screenshot below.
There are a few additional options you can customize when screen recording on iPhone:
- Pressing the microphone button before starting the recording will enable audio recording.
- Pressing the plus button before starting the recording will enable you to draw or add text to the screen recording.
- Swipe left on the red status bar to reveal an option to “Stop” or “Discard” the recording.
Downsides of screen recording your iPhone
There are several downsides to screen recording on an iPhone:
- Battery drain: Screen recording can be resource-intensive, and it can drain your iPhone’s battery quickly.
- Storage space: Screen recording creates large video files, which can take up a lot of storage space on your iPhone.
- Privacy concerns: Screen recording captures everything that appears on your iPhone’s screen, including sensitive information such as passwords and personal data.
- Interruptions: Screen recording can be interrupted by notifications or incoming calls, which can disrupt the recording.
- Risk of breaking the terms of service of certain apps, as it may be prohibited by some apps.
So, I’d caution against anybody using the feature responsibly because it can lead you to do some weird places if you are not careful.
With these simple steps, you’ll be able to easily record your iPhone’s screen, whether it’s to capture a video call, tutorial, or gameplay session.
